Process  Engineer - Silicone Molding

We are searching for a Process  Engineer for a highly regarded medical devices company in Wisconsin.  This company is located in a growing suburban community of 35,000 in the Chicago-Milwaukee I-94 corridor within easy driving distance of Milwaukee to the north, Chicago to the south, and Madison to the west. It has been listed on Money Magazines "Top 100 Best Places to Live". 

Our client is division of a large global chemical company and provides medical device contract manufacturing and support services to the healthcare industry worldwide. It specializes in silicone molding, precision medical extrusion of thermoplastics and silicone, and medical device assembly services.

The Process Development Engineer will:

  • Develop manufacturing processes for new silicone medical device components
  • Work with customers and potential customers on new designs, developing cost estimates and design evaluation.
  • Work with project engineers developing manufacturing processes, meeting customer expectations on cost, quality and delivery of new product development.
  • Design tooling and equipment for production of new silicone products
  • Improve existing processes, develop new and cost-effective manufacturing concepts, lead scrap reduction teams through lean methodologies, and actively participate in value improvement projects.
  • Provide technical assistance, process development and engineering support to the manufacturing floor to include extruding area to ensure timely delivery of product while meeting customer expectations on cost and quality.
  • Train production operators, mentor process technicians and engage maintenance personnel in resolving process, material, mold, tooling and equipment problems using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and irreversible corrective action implementation.
  • Support launch activities through participation in FMEA, PFD, part and tool design


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing process development, including tooling design, of silicone molded components for medical devices or automotive parts
  • Experience in new product realization, cost estimation, design and development of extruded, molded and/or assembled thermoset or thermoplastic materials.  Familiarity with medical grade silicone materials preferred
  • Lean training and certification preferred
  • Strong statistical skills
