Director of Global Procurement

We are searching for a Director of Global Procurement for an API speciality chemical company to lead a team that includes strategic procurement, value engineering and sourcing at company sites located throughout North and South America.  The Director of Global Procurement will be responsible for both direct and indirect spending categories.  
 
Responsibilities for this role will include cost improvements including Purchase Price Variance saving, strategic sourcing, and supplier quality initiatives, support new product development by prioritizing and allocating resources; oversee process improvement and breakthroughs within procurement in accordance with company strategies, develop and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with leading experts, other companies, joint ventures; and ensures all ISO, and related regulatory requirements are consistently met.

The Director of Global Procurement will:
  • Manage cost improvements including purchase price variance saving, strategic sourcing, and supplier quality initiatives
  • Support new product development through prioritizing and allocating resources
  • Oversee process improvement and breakthroughs within procurement
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with leading experts, other companies and joint ventures
  • Develop and execute “Best in class” materials management strategies, balancing service levels with working capital targets and obsolescence minimization
  • Develop and execute inbound supply chain strategies including inventory management, supplier owned inventory to reduce costs and reduce lead times.
  • Develop a global supplier base with the goal of improving metrics year over year
  • Direct supplier performance and relationship management and supplier quality assurance
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain or other relevant discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in procurement in a chemical or commodity based industry
  •  6+ years' experience managing a procurement or supply chain team
  • Global procurement experience
  • A track record of accomplishment in purchase price variance cost reductions, supplier risk analyses and management, commodity strategy development, and inventory and cash flow improvements across multiple sites
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply or similar, preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with demonstrated success in managing complex procurement and supply chain teams
  • The ability to travel up to 50%, both domestic and international
