Application Manager - Biotech

Industry leading analytical equipment manufacturer seeks an Application Manager to lead a scientific application team in pre and post sales activities.  The Application Manager will:
  • Hire as necessary, train and manage field applications scientists engaged in new or existing product sales relationships with biotech customers 
  • Travel with team members as necessary to evaluate and enhance application scientists' skills and performance and also to evaluate customer needs/issues 
  • Evaluate and resolve or escalate applications issues accordingly.
  • Work with technical support, marketing, field staff and R&D to ensure applications issues are tracked, resolved and appropriate communication is provided to customers 
  • Act as a liaison between customers and field application staff as required
  • In collaboration with team field scientists and customers, document new applications generated in the field 
Requirements for Application Manager - Biotech
  • PhD in in biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related life science field
  • 7+ years experience in biotechnology
  • 3+ years management experience, either in the lab or field
  • 3+ years in a customer supporting role
  • A background that includes hands-on experience with general protein separation techniques, immunoassay development, and/or protein characterization methods on new instrumentation 
  • Strong understanding of various protein analysis techniques including western blots, ELISAs, capillary electrophoresis, isoelectric focusing, HPLC and particle characterization 
  • Demonstrated track record of mentoring others and managing to success 
  • Excellent communications skills; oral, written and presentation
  • Excellent statistical skills 
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of accomplishment in working collaboratively with diverse groups
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing projects or programs
  • The ability to travel up to 50% to customer sites and conferences
